Guidelines and links for the ghazal form.
Couplets, each line of similar syllables. Traditionally from 17-19 syllables. Robert Bly suggests making the interior couplets into 3 lines adding up to the “right” amount of syllables, since the English language seems to prefer sonnet-length lines.
