Dog saga: The onesie

Today we thought the dog had burst a stitch.

What’s bad about this is that she was sewn up with a running stitch. In a running stitch, if one stitch goes, the rest can follow.

The dog could unzip on the floor. This would be bad.

I took her to the vet. Luckily, the stitch had not popped; instead, the suture had become untied. Simple fix.

The vet’s receptionist wanted to know if the dog was wearing her e-collar. No, she’s not. She’s not actually licking. What she is doing is scratching with her hind leg, which an e-collar will not help with.

The vet suggested an infant’s onesie. Oh, yes.

Those of you who know me know that I don’t do kids or babies. So I very uncomfortably entered the “Infant’s Clothing” area and looked for an appropriately-sized onesie. Sans dog, by the way. Not an easy task.

I did finally find one. Came home. Put it on her. She just stared at me as if to ask “What new horror do I have to endure now?”

She’s very cute in clothes. I’m very happy that we’ve gotten her used to coats and booties. Makes the ignominy of an infant’s onesie easier to bear.

Perhaps. :)
