Here is the spider I’ve been playing with when I’ve been on the back patio. It lives in the tube of a chair; if I blow on the web, it scurries inside the tube. Today I decided it was a good choice for the picture of the day.

I have no idea what kind of spider it is. I suppose I should research it. I don’t intend to have much more to do with it than to blow on its web occasionally. As long as it stays outside.

We have the same kind of spiders in the hedge in the front yard. They hang out at the edges of their webs and run into the hollows of the foliage when you walk past. Must be hard being a spider, both predator and prey.

In the left of the picture, you can see a dessicated insect of some kind. So this spider eats. Earns its keep. Yeah, it can stay.
