Saturday we were amongst the first audience at the new Harvey B Gantt building, the new home for the Afro-American Cultural Center. It’s a beautiful building, incorporating an art gallery and community facilities. The building isn’t quite done yet — some interior work yet remains — but no matter.

I bought myself a sculpture this weekend.
This is “Wise Messenger” by Valerie Bunnell. It’s stoneware and very solid. Right now, he’s standing next to my Thoth sculpture. The picture is from Valerie’s website.
There’s a fantastic botanical garden here. I’ve been spending two to three hours there every weekend I’m in town, mostly hanging out in the swamp area.
